Day 2 on the Road
I’m really enjoying the driving. I’m listening to “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” on cd and am up to disc 7 out of 13. I almost don’t want to get out of the car because I want to hear what happens next.
Today I drove up the coast of California, mostly with the ocean on my left side.
I’m staying with a friend in San Luis Obispo who gave me a tour of the area, including a mini boardwalk over an (estuary?) bay-area wild life area and the Elfin Forest; a forest area where trees that grow a lot bigger in other parts of the country just grow to a fraction of the size here because of the salty air. I believe this is the only place in the country where these trees grow like this, and they call it the “Elfin Forest.”
We walked through and it felt almost magical. I took some pictures that don’t do it justice, but here they are anyway.
I’m playing a songwriter showcase in Santa Margarita in about half an hour, then early to bed for a long driving day tomorrow.
